[/b][/center]Welcome to Potions.
I'm sure you're only taking this class because you must. Very few people appreciate the art of potion making. Unlike many Professors here, I will not inform you of the potion we will be studying in class until class begins.
I want to see what you can do without the chance to study and practice. After all, does a Auror have time to study a potion before it is needed, or a Mediwitch before the patient becomes ill?
Classes _
Classes will be split based on student experience. Or... just how I see fit. Most likely, students will be split according to their year. The class schedule will be posted as I learn more as the term proceeds.
Some potions will be able to be completed in one class block. Others must brew over time. In the event that a potion must be brewed over time, the class will be split into two parts.
Attendance _
For your attendance to class to count toward your overall grade (yes, let's all get the groans out now), you must post a minimum of two quality posts in class. The majority of classes must be attended.
Note: Attendance requirements may vary as terms proceed.
Grades _
Each student will receive a final grade at the end of each term, or mid-term if requested. You must receive a D- or higher to pass Potions. Any failures must come to me for make up classes.
Any and all addition or reduction of House Points will count toward the awarded-student's grade. If one gets five points toward their house, it also counts as five points extra credit.
Be warned: House Points are not given out lightly.
Homework _
Yes, there will be homework in my class. It is not usually very likely, for you will be graded on your efforts and sucesses during class. But, in the chance that there may be homework, a due date shall be assigned. Any and all homework must be PMed to me by the given date in order to be graded.
Assignments late by one day will have points docked in half.
Assignments late by more than one day will receive zeros.
I hope to see you all in class,
