Syn was suddenly flooded with voices. For a split second, he thought he might have lost it.
"Syn...You weren't the reason Chi and that girl died......It was my fault. I gave there locations to the death eaters instead of yours....I didn't know what to do. But I remembered you telling me about the two of them. I'm sorry."
Syn knew spells would do no good, but he had to get revenge somehow. He just didn't know how. At this moment, Tears were flowing down his face. He grabbed Ericus' shirt and start to shake him. You...killed..my friends. You killed my friends... You killed them........
His "fit" was interrupted by a voice he hadn't heard in the last couple minutes.
SYN! YOU STUPID, SELFISH BASTARD! I married you because you were different. I don't want to be married to a murderer. Stupefy.
Before he could respond, Syn collapsed on the floor and was stunned. Then, a split second later, he regained the ability to move.
He tried to look at Starr, but couldn't. He'd never seen her this upset. He had to say something.
You married me because I was different? Don't kid yourself Starr. You married me because I was the only one left. You knew I could never leave you, considering your all I had also. You didn' want to wake up someday and find out another lover of yours had betrayed you, cheated on you, died, whatever the hell others had done to you. You knew I couldn't do that to you. I love you Starr. Tell me. Do you still love me?

Starr didn't respond to Ericus' voice. She remained locked to the door. The knuckles on her right hand turned ghostly white as her grip tightened and she attempted to turn the handle again. "Open it," she rasped, struggling to jiggle the handle again. "Open it." Her pleas for the door to be opened died away while she forced herself to listen to Ericus' voice again. He asked her to read his mind. She shook her head. She didn't want to know what he was thinking. She didn't want to know the memories that haunted his past. Life had been good without having to know what dreaded past shadowed his every step. She wanted it to stay that way.
She could feel him behind her; he was ignored. For the most part, at least. "Open the door..." The rattle of the doorknob thundered in her head as she strained to twist it again. Her forehead thumped against the wood barricade. Once, twice, three times.
"Open," Thump. "the," Thump. "door." Thump.
Syn's voice kept her from hitting her forehead against the door again. She hated being the center of attention again. She just wanted to leave. She wanted this to go away. His voice, though, kept her feet glued to the floor. Slowly and deliberately, Starr's hand unclenched from around the door handle and she peeled herself from the door itself. Her body turned as if in slow motion. "Syn---"
Starr cut off, finding herself face to face with Ericus instead of her husband. Her head lifted a little in order to meet his eyes. She would have to step around Ericus to be able to view Syn. Her husband's figure was blocked from her view. She didn't feel like moving. With her eyes locked to Ericus', her lips parted.
"You know I love you."

"You know I love you."
Syn swallowed. Was she telling the truth?
I thought you did Starr. I really did, but... Starr, in your sleep, you've been mumbling about Akaji, about how you miss him. Ever since I've noticed that, it seems like you've been trying to get farther away from me. I don't know if you've met to start distancing yourself or not, but you have. And frankly, I'm sick of it Starr. Let Akaji go, he's not coming back. I just feel insulted that you suddenly have this infatuation with him again. I mean, its getting to the point where I'd sacrifice my body to bring him back through Alchemy. But I can't, considering I was revived through that.
Starr... tell me the truth and not what I want to hear. I know you know I know that your lying. If theres one thing I'm good at, its reading people.

Ericus ignored Starr's cries for an open door. It wasn't going to open anytime soon. He was sure of it. Ericus did, however, hear Syn question Starr on her love for him. Ericus turned his attention back to Starr as she turned around. Ericus' grey eyes pierced Starr's as she stared at him. He was confused for a moment. Surely she was going to go around him to get to Syn. To tell him that she was still in love with him and that was why they were married.
That, however, didn't seem like it was going to happen. She spoke and Ericus kept gazing into her eyes. She doesn't mean it.. Was what he thought. Ericus smirked a little. Starr wasn't talking to Syn. She was talking to him. He could tell. Her eyes were easy to read. Ericus stepped aside to give Syn and Starr full view of each other. Ericus kept his gaze on Starr, and in a solemn voice told her, "The door will not open. And I will not open it. You must understand that. Go to your husband. He feels as though he's the center of your life. As he should be."

Watching Ericus shift aside to reveal her husband, Starr felt like she could easily sock him in the face. Arrogant git... she thought bitterly, taking note of the smugness laced in his solemn tone. Her blue orbs flicked from him to settle on Syn. He stood a few feet behind Ericus. He was staring at her. Waiting for her to say something. His pleading look nearly drove a stake through her heart. And, even through teary eyes, she managed to crack a smile.
Footsteps echoed dully around Ericus' office as she hesitantly approached him. Starr stopped about a foot away and tilted her head yet again, meeting his eyes just as she had with Ericus. There was a brief moment of hesitation. Just a flicker. A twinge of uncertainty before the Potions professor covered the distance beween them. The length of her body was pressed comfortingly to his, her arms wrapping tightly around his middle. Her head was turned to the side, the cheek resting against his chest.
"I love you."

Syn had a look of defeat painted on his face. For a second, he thought that she was going to ignore him and continue to beg for Ericus to open the door. He didn't know what had come over him in the past hour. He hadn't acted this immature since he was a boy. On the other hand, it was stuff he had been dying to say, he just couldn't believe he had managed to.
He wasn't paying attention to Starr when she approached him and embraced him. He didn't look away, he didn't push her away. He hugged her and smiled a little. He very, very quietly whispered I'm sorry...Starr. You know I love you. I have since I first layed my eyes on you. He tightened his grip on her a little. He didn't want to let her go... he was afraid that if he did, she wouldn't come back. Foolish, huh?

Ericus' expression drained from his face as Starr walked past him. He wasn't sure of what to say or what to do. Turning back to them, Ericus placed himself in front of the door. She had smiled at him for some reason. He felt as though it meant something important. Ericus' wand was still in his hand as he raised it to point at Syn. He could feel his energy coming back to him. The color in his face was no longer pale but its usual. His grey eyes now looked more silverish.
"Aw, what a happy couple. I'm so glad that through constantly referencing that Akaji man and saying that you always loved that Harmony girl seem to keep you two together. Yet I don't believe Syn knows too much about Starr. Now do you?" He said slyly. There was a slight smirking curl to Ericus' lips. He was feeling back to his old self. Whatever Starr had done to him made him feel, well, not like himself. It made him feel cautious. Wrecklessness was always an enjoyable business.
Ericus took a few steps forward. "I do believe the man deserves to know, now doesn't he Starr. Or Mrs. Kimaki as you are more currently known." He smirked a little more. It was only so long until Syn finally reached a breaking point. Something that would cause him to slip up. Something Ericus could use against him. The only thing he had now was Syn's weakness. "Syn you seem to reference this Akaji man a lot. You seem to wish you were more like him. You always seem to want to be someone you're not. To have something you can't. To get rid of something you can't."

Syn, let go of Starr and instead held her hand and listened to Ericus.
"Aw, what a happy couple. I'm so glad that through constantly referencing that Akaji man and saying that you always loved that Harmony girl seem to keep you two together. Yet I don't believe Syn knows too much about Starr. Now do you?"
I know as much as I need to. We all have secrets. Besides, its not like any of hers has anything to do with our relationship. And its not like you know anything I don't.
"I do believe the man deserves to know, now doesn't he Starr. Or Mrs. Kimaki as you are more currently known."
Know what? He looked at Starr. What's he talking about?
"Syn you seem to reference this Akaji man a lot. You seem to wish you were more like him. You always seem to want to be someone you're not. To have something you can't. To get rid of something you can't."
I think deep inside everyone feels like that. Take yourself for example. YOU wish that you could be more like me because maybe, just maybe, you would have gotten Starr instead instead of me. You want Starr, which you can't. AND, you probably want to get rid of that HIDEOUS face of yours, you know, the one behind your fake one. That can't happen though, right?

Ericus temper was rising. His hand had clenched tightly around his wand that he had almost broke it. Syn was definately acting differently. More different than when this had started. Earlier Syn was weak and cautious. Now he was literally a clone of Ericus. In an emotional sense. Fear was the only way to defeat Syn. Fear, death and torture. One he had already used. The other he had already been threatened with. But fear was something different.
"Well well well. Look who finally decided to stand up for himself. What's the matter Syn? Only brave because Starr is here? Only brave because she's awake? If thats so, you still disgust me." Ericus spat at the ground. Once again, Fear. The only way to induce fear was with a boggart. But Ericus had to remember where the hell he had stored it in the first place. Ericus' eyes scanned the room til it came upon a small silver box.
"Ah...There we go. Let's see how you deal in the face of fear, Syn Kimaki." Ericus waved his wand as the silver box exploded open and the boggart flew out. Unfortunately it came nowhere near Syn. It landed in front of Ericus, taking the shape of a man. Ericus' expression turned to horror as the man dressed in the black cloak pulled his mask off and revealed itself to be Ericus. "No..." He said softly as his wand dropped from his hand. He began backstepping towards the door as the boggart-Ericus followed him.
Ericus felt himself being lifted off the ground as the boggar-Ericus had cornered him at the door and began choke-lifting Ericus with it's hand. His eyes widened as the boggart-Ericus smirked at him. his own hands where trapped to his neck as he tried to struggle free. Ericus could feel himself becoming short of breathe. "No...damn...I wanted you to go af...ter....him... One....of...you...help." Ericus said through choked breaths.

The horror stricken look once plastered to Starr's face slipped away as the conversation somehow managed to direct away from the memories she had shown Ericus. There was too much at risk for her to have to face Syn and explain what happened. What she had shown. What little twists and turns of her past she had revealed to the man now being choked by a boggart. There was just too much at stake. Too much to lose...
The warmth of her husband's hand against hers actually kept her from helping Ericus anytime soon. Why should she? He just threatened to ruin her relationship with Syn and now he wanted them to save him from being choked by... himself? The grip she had on Syn's hand tightened slightly and her head tilted to look up at him. The look that she flashed him could easily be read as something along the lines of: Sorry, but I have to...
Starr's hand released Syn's and her feet glided slowly over the ground as she approached the two Ericus'. In one move, she broke the grip the boggart had on Ericus' neck and stepped between them. Unfortunately, the space between the two Ericus' wasn't that great. The back of her body pressed uncomfortably against the front of Ericus' until the boggart staggered backward, seemingly confused about who his target was.
She moved from Ericus, blocking him from the boggart's view and watched with a slight grimmace as the boggart's shape changed. The man it turned into was taller than Ericus. He had broader shoulders and a harder face. He had almost a foot on Starr height wise. When the boggart finished its transformation, the man before her sneered and took a threatening step closer. Reacting almost instantly, Starr jerked backward only to bump into Ericus behind her.
"Shit..." Starr hissed, fumbling with her wand as the man got closer. Whipping out with a trembling hand, she jabbed it in the boggart's face, practically screaming, "Riddikulus!" She didn't even bother to see what the man was turned into before she pointed her wand at him again, a silent curse flashing across her mind. The boggart was blasted backward and staggered into the silver box. "Riddikulus!" Starr repeated, her voice practically stricken while the man shrunk in size, now big enough to fit into the box. Another blast erupted from her wand and the boggart was forced back into the box.
Struggling to catch her breath, Starr slammed the lid shut and pointed her wand at it. "Colloportus!" Once the box was sealed to her satisfaction, she whirled around and silently fixed Ericus with an icy glare.

Syn's hands curled as he watched his wife approach Black again. Sorry, but I have to. He wanted to say No, Starr. You don't. but the words wouldn't come out of her mouth.
He watched as Starr approached the Boggart and got it away from Ericus. The anger was returning to him. He ignored what the boggart had turned into. He didn't care. Starr was his. Ericus had tried to harm him, yet Starr still runs to him. Did she relive what was happening, or was she just being ignorant? He was getting jealous. She shouldn't be helping him. He's trying to ruin there life. He listened as she Starr fired off a few spells and the boggart disappeared. She just did the wrong thing. She saved someone Syn was quickly losing patience with. Syn felt like Ericus Black was trying to take Starr away from him. That boggart was just a way to get attention. A tear fell from his eye, then he ran up to Starr and pushed her against the nearest wall. He started to yell at her. He'd lost it.
You lied to me bitch. You don't love me. You love him...
Syn was breathing extremely hard. He'd thought of how long it had taken him to finally get Starr to go out with him. Almost 10 years. Ten freaking years he had spent "wooing" Starr. He felt like those years had been wasted. Starr never loved him. He punched her. He punched her right in the left cheek, then pushed her to the ground.
You lied to me Starr.

Starr's head smacked unexpectadly against the wall. Her arms were held awkwardly at her sides, causing her shoulderblades to dig uncomfortably against the wall behind her. This eruption of anger was totally unexpected. It left her speechless and gaping up at her husband as he exploded right in her face.
"You lied to me bitch." "N-No! Syn! I---" "You don't love me." "Syn! I-I do---!" "You love him..."
Blue eyes widened and she struggled against his grip, fearing what might come next. Syn might as well have been the boggart that danced before her face only moments ago. Fear gripped her heart like the hand of Death itself. "No..." she whispered, watching in slow motion as Syn's fist raised. "Please..." The ominous fist drew closer and all of the sudden the slow motion clicked away. Pain tored through her cheek as the force of it snapped her head to the side.
While her cry of pain was still making its way out of her throat, she felt his hands on her shoulders and he tossed her to the side. Just like a ragdoll. Her body hit the hard tiled floor with a sickening smack. Her body sprawled awkwardly at his feet.
"You lied to me Starr."
There were already tears in her eyes as she reached to wipe the blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. "No... I didn't... please..." her pathetic whimpers died away while the fear flickered in her eyes again. She felt like a terrified schoolgirl again. It was degrading. Pathetic. She hated it. There wasn't anything she could do.
"P-Please..."

Ericus felt himself dropped from the choking grasp just as he almost went unconcsious. Starr had come to help him. And she had gotten rid of the boggart easily. Ericus was going to say something when she turned to stare at him. He knew he had done something wrong. And if she thought it was because he released the boggart, she was wrong. The boggart was supposed to weaken Syn. He needed to be hurt.
However, that didn't even work. Syn had come and torn Starr away and slammed her into the wall. Ericus took this time to roll and pick up his wand. As he turned to look back Syn punched Starr and she fell to the ground. Ericus could tell that she was crying. He could hear it messing with her speech. And he could see tears in hers eyes.
"Syn, you are a coward. You attack your wife for helping me. I should never have helped you. You would be dead if I hadn't aided you all those times. You would be rotting in a grave and no one would care. And this is the reason why." Ericus shouted at Syn as he grabbed for Syn's shoulder. Ericus spun Syn around and punched him square in the jaw. "You still have so much to learn."
Ericus placed his foot on Syn's chest and pressed down. The back of his cloak dropped to the ground. It basically hid Syn from anything except Ericus' view. "She marries you. She pledges her life to you. She came to me to ask for my extra protection. And you throw her to the ground. You are scum. And scum deserve to be tortured." Ericus pointed his wand at Syn's face. "But You need to be punished first. Sectumsempra!" Ericus shouted as he made a slashing motion. If it had worked correctly, a large gash would appear across Syn's chest, right under Ericus' shoe. "Crucio!"

Syn grabbed his hair and started yelling. Your Lying... Your Lying...
He completely ignored Ericus. He shook his head. YOUR LYING STARR!!!. He was still breathing hard. He stumbled over to Ericus and put both of his hands on his shoulders. You... did this. You. YOU DID THIS....
"Syn, you are a coward. You attack your wife for helping me. I should never have helped you. You would be dead if I hadn't aided you all those times. You would be rotting in a grave and no one would care. And this is the reason why." You did this... I... I'd be happy. I... I always said I wanted DEATH or Starr....You..you took her from me.. Syn stumbled backwords a little as Ericus punched him. He didn't feel much, not that it didn't hurt, but because he didn't care. He wasn't focused on that. He was pretty much having a mental breakdown at the moment.
"You still have so much to learn."
Noo....
"She marries you. She pledges her life to you. She came to me to ask for my extra protection. And you throw her to the ground. You are scum. And scum deserve to be tortured."
Noo... I didn't do anything.. YOU DID THI...
"But You need to be punished first. Sectumsempra!"
Syn fell to the ground, yelling in pain as a large gash appeared on his chest. It hurt so much, like someone took a knife, stabbed it in as far as it would go, and pulled until they got to where they wanted. He felt like his body was being ripped in half. Then he heard a familiar curse, the one that had started all of this. "Crucio!"
More pain was added as he squirmed on the ground, literally crying in pain. STOP...PLEASE. He felt like someone added 1000s of more knives to his one, and pulled those too. Then poured acid on him. S..ST...STOP IT! He cried out, screaming, squirming on the ground. STOP IT....ST..St...stop He was struggling for breath, the pain was unbearable.

Starr didn't seem capable of doing much anymore. She simply lay on the ground, trembling and whimpering pathetically. She didn't feel twenty three anymore. It was like she was shoved in a time capsule and sent hurtling backwards in time. She was fourteen again. Shouted voices of her friends thundered in her ears as they argued. They were always arguing. Arguing about something that didn't matter. Pointless words shouted back and forth. They were always arguing...
"Crucio!"
She wasn't fourteen anymore. The world came crashing back to reality and she was forced to remember. Her husband hit her. Her best friend was torturing him. She was laying on the ground like some pathetic child. Crying. God, she hated crying. It was such a sign of weakness. She had to stop crying. "Stop crying," she choked out firmly, forcing her eyes to open and look over at the man towering over her husband. "Stop crying."
Feeling the shock leave her system, Starr struggled to her feet. Other than the bruise forming on her cheek, she merely felt light-headed. You're overreacting... Like a zombie, she moved toward Ericus. She stopped at his side and, still zombie-like, looked down at her husband. The scene was bloody and made her stomach lurch horribly. Blood spattered her husband's chest and he was crying like an animal being beaten.
"No!" Starr suddenly jolted out of her quiet spell and jerked her eyes from Syn. "Ericus! NO!" Whatever was causing her to react this way had a strong effect on her. She lashed out and pushed Ericus' wand arm out of the way. His wand flew from his hands and landed a few feet away. The torture curse ended. Tears instantly splattered her cheeks and confusion recaptured her mind.
What did she just do? Save the man that cursed at her and came close to beating her? Why? Because she loved him? Who did she love, anyway? Why did it feel like her heart was being ripped into a million pieces? What was going on? Where was she? Who was on the ground? Was he bleeding? Who was behind her? Did she know him? Who are they? Why was everything blurry...?
Starr completely broke down. Right there. Totally lost it. Her husband was practically dying. Her best friend caused it. Without thinking, she turned to Ericus and pressed against him. Her face burried against his chest and she just stood there and sobbed. Childish...
